To Do Lists

This episode also makes me smile! To do lists get me through my busiest days.

It helps me to calm myself down and not feel so overwhelmed. I have learned to make my to do lists simple: no more than 3-5 items. If I have very difficult tasks, I put those at the top of my to do list.

If I have a task that will take a lot of time, I break up the larger item into smaller, more manageable tasks over time (namely the week). It’s okay if one task may take several days to complete, I just add it to the next days to do list.

When I complete my items, I try to set a timer for no longer than an hour. This way, I can get things done, scratch off that item and do my happy dance!

I have also learned that you have to be realistic about what you can get done in a day. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and sometimes you have to give yourself grace. Life happens and it’s not fair to beat up on yourself for “not completing every task”.

I’ve also incorporated a productivity planner…best decision ever! It helps me to understand how long tasks take and what’s the most important task of the day.
